How To Design Your Pooja Room in Compliance to Vastu Shastra

Irrespective to the religion you follow, we all worship God in some or other form. In Vastu Shastra (commonly known as Vastu or Vaastu), there is a dedicated place assigned to the God and having your Pooja Room or Temple or Worship area in this place invites prosperity and well being in individual lives.

Puja Room Vastu
One of my client I visited, had a complain that there is unavoidable out flow of MONEY, lace of mental peace and no growth in anyone’s life in the family. I was expected to work on the issue and resolve it to have growth and prosperity for all in the family.
During my examination of  the vastu (house), the major problems that I observed was in the NorthEast Corner of the house. NorthEast corner is between the North and the East direction i.e. at 45 degrees.

Vastu Advice For The Pooja Room

Universe is one of the beautiful creations of nature and everything stands alive only in the limelight of truth. Just like every subject of human aspect is governed with rules, regulations & acts, similarly the art of worshipping has got certain key factor principles to attain all its benefits.

While planning a house, due to the space constraints, many people tend to ignore a separate pooja room but we must not sideline the need to make a place for GOD. Thus by creating a room for worshipping, we are creating a room to get charged with positive vibrations every morning and that energy will energize our environment, mind, body and soul. Our work efficiency will increase and so the progress, prosperity and peace.

This room should be designed carefully because when you do meditation, you should gain the positive energies and then you can feel charged. If it is in wrong direction, then no matter how much meditation you do, you will not feel charged. There are certain rules which one must follow before the commencement of designing a pooja room.
  • The pooja room should always be situated in the NorthEast or the Northeast side of the house.
  • One should face towards East/North while worshipping.
  • Ideally there should be no idols in the worship room. But if one wish to keep, the height of the idol should not be more than 9"and less than 2".

Vastu for Pooja room / temple / worship place

Puja (Temple) Room
Worship should be done in the north east, north, or east sides of the house. It is best that the temple room is in the northeast corner of the house.
The worship room should not be to the south.
The place of worship should be on the ground floor and not upstairs.
The altar should be located on the northeast side of the temple room.
The deities or pictures of the deities should either face east or west, and should not face north or south. It is best that the Deities face west and the worshipers face east.
The altar should not be set into the wall but should be at least 2.5 cm (an inch) from it.
The door to the temple room should have two shutters.
Toilets should never be above or below the place of worship.
White, light yellow, or light blue are good colors for a temple room. It is good if the worship room is shaped like a pyramid, sloping inward as it goes upward toward the roof in the four directions.
